| September 1, 2007 - NFA CLARIFIES AND FORMALLY IMPLEMENTS NEW DOG POLICY ON ITS PROPERTIES Effective immediately, the Newtown Forest Association (NFA) has clarified and adopted a new Dog Policy to address problems observed by our board members and complaints from several of our members and friends who enjoy our properties. The policy states that all dogs on NFA property must remain leashed at all times and not interfere with other visitors. In addition, we require all dog owners to clean up and remove waste after their dogs. Signs will be posted at various properties to inform visitors of this policy. However, the policy applies to all NFA properties, whether or not a sign is posted there. This policy is for the safety and enjoyment of all visitors and the protection of the wildlife that reside protected on our properties. We regret the effect this may have on those of you who have very well trained dogs that are always well mannered to all people they encounter, however, our properties never have been intended to be dog parks and we need to manage these for all people to enjoy. We hope this new policy solves many of the problems we have recently encountered while still allowing dogs and their owners to enjoy our properties. We hope we will not have to resort prohibiting dogs as other land trusts have done. Back to News Index |
